Becoming a Freemason

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organisations. At Downshire Lodge 2437 we build on the enduring principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth — helping good men become better men, and making a positive difference in our local community.

Who can join?

  • Men aged 18 or over
  • Of good character, and law-abiding
  • Who acknowledge a belief in a Supreme Being

We welcome men from all walks of life, regardless of their religious, ethnic, social or educational background.

How to join

Joining a Lodge usually begins with an informal, no-obligation conversation. The first step is simply to get in touch — we will be glad to answer your questions and tell you more about the Lodge and Freemasonry.

If you decide to proceed, your application will be proposed and seconded by existing members in the traditional way.
